NEW DELHI, March 9. /TASS/. India's largest pharmaceutical company Dr. Reddy's Laboratories Ltd will carry on working in Russia, Reuters reported on Wednesday, citing its spokesman.
"We have had a presence in the region (Russia - TASS) for over three decades. Ensuring the well-being of our staff is our first and foremost priority, along with measures to meet patient needs and business continuity," the agency quoted a Dr. Reddy's spokesperson as saying. According to him, the pharma major "is monitoring evolving developments closely and preparing accordingly."
The company representative did not specify whether the pharma giant would cut back investment in Russia. The Russian market accounted for more than 8% of total company sales in the fiscal year ending March 31 in India.
Indian pharmaceutical company Dr. Reddy's Laboratories Ltd supplies painkillers and other drugs to Russia. It has also become a distributor of Russia’s Sputnik V jab in India, the use of which began in that country last May. Earlier, the company said that the sanctions imposed by the West against Russia after the start of a special military operation in Ukraine did not affect the production of the Russian drug in India.
