MOSCOW, January 18. /TASS/. Imports of gasoline motor fuel in Russia in November 2020 amounted to 13,800 tonnes, which is almost 8-fold more than in October, the Federal Customs Service reported on Monday.
A four-month embargo on imported gasoline expired in October.
In monetary terms, imports amounted to $4.9 mln, which is almost 7-fold more than a month earlier.
In the spring of 2020, the domestic fuel market was hit by serious shocks caused by the coronavirus pandemic and isolation measures adopted in Russia and around the world. After a decline in demand for fuel, which in Russia, according to the Ministry of Energy, reached 40% in some regions, the authorities lowered the minimum threshold for the sale of fuel on the exchange, and also introduced a temporary ban on imports of gasoline and diesel to Russia from June 2, as it became unprofitable for oil companies to supply fuel. The ban was in effect until October 1.
