MINSK, November 3. /TASS/. The North Atlantic Treaty Organization is causing an unprecedented escalation of the situation along the Collective Security Treaty Organization’s (CSTO) western borders, CSTO Secretary General Taalatbek Masadykov said at the high-level plenary session of the 4th International Conference on Eurasian Security in Minsk.
"Conditions are being created near the CSTO’s western borders for the deployment of nuclear arsenals and their delivery systems, as well as high-precision conventional weapons," he said. "NATO is deploying new brigade-level units on a permanent basis in the immediate vicinity of the borders, and creating command structures and military equipment depots."
The CSTO chief also drew attention to the modernization of airports, railways, crossings, and bridges, as well as the streamlining of logistics for transporting personnel, weapons, and military equipment in order to make it as easy as possible to use European civilian transportation infrastructure for military purposes. "The so-called ‘military Schengen,’" Masadykov said.
According to him, Eurasia remains a hotbed of crises and conflicts, and the situation in the East Eurasian collective security region is escalating at an unprecedented rate. "The breakdown of the European security system that has occurred in recent years has, in fact, become irreversible," he concluded.
