Russia-China strategic partnership reaches unprecedented level — defense minister

It is based on personal contacts between Russian President Vladimir Putin and Chinese President Xi Jinping, Andrey Belousov emphasized

MOSCOW, November 3. /TASS/. The strategic partnership between Russia and China is at an unprecedented high level, Russian Defense Minister Andrey Belousov said during talks with Chinese Central Military Commission Vice Chairman Colonel General Zhang Shengmin.

"The strategic partnership between our countries has reached an unprecedented high level. It is based on personal contacts between Russian President Vladimir Putin and Chinese President Xi Jinping," the top defense official emphasized.

Belousov also congratulated Zhang Shengmin on his election as a member of the Political Bureau of the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) Central Committee.

For his part, the senior Chinese defense official noted that the leaders of Russia and China have met many times this year. "They have charted new strategic directions for the development of China-Russia relations. And our meeting today is a practical step toward implementing the important agreements reached by our heads of state," Zhang Shengmin noted.

He also expressed confidence in further developing friendship and cooperation between China's and Russia's armed forces.
