HAVANA, November 10. /TASS/. Cuban leader Raul Castro has congratulated US President-elect Donald Trump, the Cuban Foreign Ministry reported on Thursday.
"The Chairman of the State Council and of the Council of Ministers of the Republic of Cuba Raul Castro Ruz sent a congratulatory telegram to Mr Donald Trump in connection with his election to the position of the President of the United States of America," the foreign ministry said.
At the same time, on Wednesday Cuban authorities announced holding military drills on the territory of the country to check the military capabilities of Cuban forces. The Cuban government did not tie the maneuvers to Trump’s victory. However, the announcement came right after the results of the US presidential election were announced. Cuban military manuvers usually coincide with high tensions in relations with US.
