Petro Poroshenko gains 54.7% in Ukraine's presidential election

KIEV, May 28. /ITAR-TASS/. With 99.42% of electronic vote protocols counted, billionaire businessman and politician Petro Poroshenko is leading in Sunday’s presidential election in Ukraine with 54.71% of the vote, the Ukrainian Central Election Commission (CEC) reported on Wednesday.

Poroshenko’s closest rival, ex-premier Yulia Tymoshenko, has 12.81% and Radical Party leader Oleh Lyashko is in the third place with 8.32%.

CEC Chairman Mykhailo Okhendovsky said the commission, for the first time in Ukraine’s history, cannot obtain 100% of electronic data as connection with two district election commissions has been lost.
