Greenland’s parliament approves security agreement with US

The agreement will now go before Denmark’s parliament

STOCKHOLM, November 3. /TASS/. Greenland’s parliament, the Inatsisartut, has approved a new Arctic security agreement between Greenland, the US and Denmark, the broadcaster KNR reported.

The agreement will now go before Denmark’s parliament, the Folketing, for approval on November 19.

Signed in New York on September 22, the agreement updates a 1951 treaty and identifies two locations on the island, Narsarsuaq and Mestersvig, where the US plans to establish military bases.
