Sudanese leader says sites for investing in gold, copper mining to be provided to Russia

Gold is one of Sudan’s primary exports

MOSCOW, October 30. /TASS/. Sudan is prepared to provide sites for investment in the development of gold, copper, and other mineral deposits on the country’s territory to Russia, the Chairman of the Sovereignty Council of Sudan Abdel Fattah al-Burhan said at a meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin.

Sudan possesses significant mineral reserves, he said, adding that Russian companies could participate in their development. Some sites are already prepared for exploitation, the leader of Sudan noted. "Right now, we have sites that we can make available to Russia for investment, those containing copper, gold, and other metals. And we are being completely sincere when we say that we are ready to carry out these projects together," he stressed.

Gold is one of Sudan’s primary exports. According to the Sudanese Mineral Resources Company, roughly 70 tons of gold were mined in the country in 2025. In the first nine months of 2026, revenue from its export reached $2.29 bln.
