Pellegrini wins presidential election in Slovakia — TV

President-elect said that he would do everything for his country "to be always on the side of peace and not war"

BRATISLAVA, April 7. /TASS/. Peter Pellegrini, the speaker of the National Council [the parliament] of Slovakia was elected as the President of the country, the Slovenska Televizia TV channel said.

Experts commenting on election results confidently made such conclusion after results of voting at 96.05% polling stations had been released by the Slovak statistical department. 54.32% of voters cast their votes in favor of Pellegrini.

President-elect said at his first meeting with supporters and reporters after the presidential election that he will do everything for his country "to be always on the side of peace and not war."

"I will do everything for Slovakia to be always on the side of peace, not war. And let me be criticized for that by anyone and in any way," Pellegrini said.
