Iranian president urges Islamic countries to sever economic ties with Israel

Ebrahim Raisi also stated the need to impose sanctions against the Jewish state

DUBAI, November 11. /TASS/. Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi has called on Islamic countries to cut economic ties with Israel and impose sanctions on the country, including an embargo on oil imports.

The president urged the countries to force the US and Israel to stop hostilities in the Gaza Strip.

"All means should be used to force America and the Zionist enemy (Israel - TASS) to agree to stop killing people immediately," he said at an extraordinary joint summit of the League of Arab States (LAS) and the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) in Riyadh.

"It is necessary for Islamic countries to end all political and economic relations with the Zionist regime. In this regard, a trade embargo against the Zionist regime, including an embargo on oil [to Israel], should be a priority," the president pointed out.

Earlier, Syrian President Bashar Assad called on Islamic countries to reduce their contacts with Israel.

"At the moment, effective steps, not verbal rhetoric, are needed to stop this war. For this purpose, Arab countries should at least go for curtailing all political contacts with the Zionist entity," he pointed out.
