KIEV, March 9. /TASS/. Ukraine will make every effort to continue the work of humanitarian corridors, Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky said on Wednesday, noting that more than 18,000 people have already been evacuated from the Kiev region.
"Yesterday we finally managed to organize humanitarian corridors from Sumy to Poltava, rescued 1,600 students and 3,500 citizens. Evacuation from cities and towns in the Kiev region is underway: more than 18,000 people have already been evacuated from Dymer, Vorzel, Irpen. Today we will do everything to continue the work of humanitarian corridors," Zelensky said in a video message posted in his Telegram channel.
The president said that officials were working to ensure evacuation through corridors in the directions Energodar - Zaporozhye, Sumy - Poltava, Mariupol - Zaporozhye, Volnovakha - Pokrovsk, Izyum - Lozovaya, as well as towards the capital from settlements in the Kiev region. He also claims that "the Ukrainian servicemen have created all the conditions."
On Wednesday morning, the deputy prime minister for issues of reintegration on uncontrolled territories, Irina Vereshchuk, said that the evacuation of civilians would be carried out through six humanitarian corridors. For this aim, a ceasefire will be introduced from 09:00 to 21:00.
