VIENNA, October 29. /TASS/. The denial of medical care to Russian-speaking patients because they do not speak Ukrainian is unacceptable and goes against the Hippocratic oath, said Dmitry Polyansky, Russia’s Permanent Representative to the OSCE, commenting on a statement from Yelena Ivanovskaya, the language Ombudsman of Ukraine, that medical workers are allegedly not obliged to treat patients who speak Russian.
"Can anyone sitting here imagine not receiving treatment in Viennese medical institutions just because they will not be able to explain themselves in German? I can assure you that any Ukrainian doctor speaks Russian much better than an Austrian speaks English," he told a regular meeting of the OSCE Permanent Council. The diplomat's speech is available to TASS.
According to the diplomat, telling Ukrainian medical workers this is akin to "bald-faced Nazism that goes against the Hippocratic oath."
