Liberation of 12 settlements, Ukrainian losses: situation in Russia’s Kursk Region

According to the Defense Ministry, Russian forces liberated more than 100 square kilometers of the region’s territory

MOSCOW, March 11. /TASS/. The Russian Armed Forces have liberated 12 settlements in the Kursk Region over the past day, the Russian Defense Ministry said in a statement.

The Ukrainian army lost more than 270 troops over the past 24 hours.

Progress on eliminating Ukrainian formations

- Units of Russia’s Battlegroup North continued their offensive, liberating 12 settlements in the Kursk Region: Agronom, Bogdanovka, Bondarevka, Dmitryukov, Zazulevka, Ivashkovsky, Kolmakov, Kubatkin, Martynovka, Mikhailovka, Pravda, and Yuzhny.

Ukrainian losses

- Over the past day, the Ukrainian army lost more than 270 troops, two tanks, four infantry fighting vehicles, three armored personnel carriers, eight armored combat vehicles, 20 motor vehicles, two US-made Paladin self-propelled artillery systems, a field artillery gun, a Buk-M1 self-propelled surface-to-air missile system, as well as 11 UAV control posts and two ammunition depots.

- 12 Ukrainian soldiers surrendered as prisoners of war.

- In total, during the fighting in the Kursk area, Kiev has lost up to 66,550 troops, 391 tanks, 311 infantry fighting vehicles, 272 armored personnel carriers, 2,181 armored combat vehicles, 2,403 motor vehicles, 542 artillery guns, 52 multiple rocket launchers, including 13 HIMARS and seven MLRS of US manufacture, and 26 anti-aircraft missile launchers.

Statements by chief of Akhmat commando unit

- Russian troops' infiltration behind enemy lines through a gas pipeline and the subsequent defeat of Ukrainian detachments in the Sudzhansky District of the Kursk Region have caused panic among Kiev’s troops, Lieutenant General Apty Alaudinov, the deputy chief of the Russian Armed Forces' main military and political directorate and commander of the Akhmat commando unit, told TASS.

- According to him, fighters from different units covered 12-15 kilometers, depending on their departure point. Fighters of the Aida group of the Akhmat Special Forces and the 30th Motorized Rifle Regiment were the first to emerge from the pipe hatches into the Ukrainian flanks. They "immediately entered a forest, drove the enemy out, captured two strongholds, and then entered the village of Kubatkin." "Except for two or three villages around Sudzha, all other communities are under the control of Russian troops," he said.
