Kherson expands evacuation zone due to Kiev’s possible strikes on HPP — acting head

Decision was made to extend the evacuation zone by 15 kilometers away from the Dnepr River, Vladimir Saldo said

KHERSON, November 1. /TASS/. The authorities of the Kherson Region expanded the evacuation zone amid the Ukrainian armed forces’ preparations to carry out a massive rocket strike targeting the Kakhovka hydroelectric power plant, acting governor Vladimir Saldo said in his Telegram channel.

"In connection with the Ukrainian regime’s plans to use prohibited methods of warfare and information about Kiev’s preparations for a massive rocket strike on the Kakhovka HPP dam, there is a threat of flooding in the Kherson Region, mass destruction of civilian infrastructure and a humanitarian disaster. Under these circumstances, a decision was made to extend the evacuation zone by 15 kilometers away from the Dnepr River," he said.

Kherson Region Acting Governor Vladimir Saldo said on October 18 that residents on the right bank of the Dnepr River would be evacuated to the left bank due to the threat of flooding, which might occur if the Ukrainian military struck the Kakhovka hydropower plant.
