ST. PETERSBURG, June 15. /TASS/. The Kiev authorities would very much like to open a military front in Transnistria, but such a development would be "the end of Moldova", Russian Permanent Representative to the EU Vladimir Chizhov said this in an interview with TASS on the sidelines of the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum (SPIEF) on Wednesday.
When asked whether a situation could develop in which Russia would have to defend Transnistria, Chizhov said, "Many people are pushing us toward this."
"Moreover, many people, primarily in Kiev, are very eager to open a Transnistrian front. I hope that common sense will prevail after all. Because this will be the end of Moldova," the high-ranking diplomat stressed.
The SPIEF takes place between June 15 and 18, this year’s topic is ‘New world - new opportunities’. Russian Small and Medium-Sized Enterprises Forum (SME Forum), Creative Business Forum, Drug Safety, SPIEF Junior and SPIEF Sport Week will also take place as part of the event.
