MOSCOW, February 4. /TASS/. Washington’s relentless meddling in Russia’s internal affairs can be tackled officially starting today, Russian Foreign Ministry Spokeswoman Maria Zakharova said on Russian TV Thursday.

"If the US chooses the tactic of constant meddling in our internal affairs - something that we keep stating, backing it up with facts that don’t even have to be looked for since they are in plain sight - then we will, perhaps, take interest in how things are there [in the US]." I think that today these issues will extend to the official level as well," Zakharova said, without providing further details.

The diplomat recalled that, in accordance with the UN Charter and other international documents, Russia always prioritized the right of sovereign countries to resolve internal issues on their own.

Previously, Russian Ambassador to the US Anatoly Antonov disclosed that Moscow expects "prompt" contacts between Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov and new US Secretary of State Antony Blinken. On January 26, Russian President Vladimir Putin and his US counterpart Joe Biden spoke over the phone for the first time.
