KURSK, October 27. /TASS/. The Kursk Nuclear Power Plant (NPP) is running normally after an attempted attack on the plant by three Ukrainian drones was foiled the day before, the NPP's press service said in a statement.
"The Kursk NPP is operating normally. We confirm that on the evening of October 26 an attack by three enemy drones on the Kursk NPP was thwarted. This incident did not affect the plant's operation," the statement said.
There were no casualties or damage as a result of the drone attack. Law enforcement agencies are working at the site of the incident.
According to the press service, the Kursk NPP is operating in normal mode. Power Units 2, 3 and 4 are running at their designated capacities under the dispatch schedule, while Power Unit 1 is in a "no generation" mode as its operation has been discontinued pending further decommissioning. Background radiation at the Kursk NPP and in the immediate vicinity is, as previously, at the level of natural values.
The day before, the Russian Defense Ministry reported that Russian air defense forces had intercepted a drone near Kurchatov, Kursk Region, and, in the pre-dawn hours of October 27, thwarted an attempted attack by three drones elsewhere in the Kursk Region.
