MOSCOW, October 30. /TASS/. Trade and economic relations between Russia and Sudan are developing despite the political challenges facing the African nation, President Vladimir Putin said at a meeting with the Chairman of the Sovereignty Council of Sudan Abdel Fattah al-Burhan.
"Bilateral cooperation is friendly and constructive in nature. And despite the challenges Sudan has faced, relations continue to develop, including in the trade and economic area," the Russian leader said, adding that the volume of trade between the two countries more than doubled in 2025. "[Trade volume] grew by another 25% between January and August, which is a very positive trend," he noted.
Sudan is among Russia’s top ten trading partners in Africa, Putin said. Moreover, an intergovernmental commission operates between the two countries, and Moscow also provides training for Sudanese professionals, he added. "Sudan is an important partner for Russia in the Arab world and on the African continent," the Russian leader concluded.
