MOSCOW, October 28. /TASS/. National authorities should influence the operation of social networks in their countries, Russian President Vladimir Putin said while viewing an exhibition on the sidelines of the Russia-Africa summit.
Discussing the issue of sovereignty of social media, the Russian leader mentioned France as an example, where authorities acknowledged that non-sovereign social media platforms are fueling unrest in the country, while the government has almost no ability to influence their operations.
"I think it would be right if we all influence it [the sovereignty and operation of social networks], and think about security matters," he said.
