Ruble’s role in APEC to rise, dollar’s credibility to fall — Russian MFA

The credibility of the dollar and the American-centric financial system "is falling due to external circumstances," Marat Berdyev specified

MOSCOW, November 21. /TASS/. The role of the Russian currency across the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) will be seriously increasing in the future, whereas the dollar’s credibility will continue falling, the Russian Foreign Ministry’s Ambassador at large and senior APEC official Marat Berdyev said.

"I think that if we continue keeping our currency stable, which is underway now particularly in the sanctions conditions, we have the chance of raising its role in the Asia-Pacific region," he told a briefing. "In this context I see a serious future role of the Russian ruble," Berdyev added.

Meanwhile, the credibility of the dollar and the American-centric financial system "is falling due to external circumstances," amid growth of the US’ state debt among other things, he noted.
