Kalashnikov demonstrates combat capabilities of Kalitka anti-drone system for first time

The system shot down an FPV drone and a fixed-wing drone at a range of less than 150 meters

PATRIOT PARK (Moscow Region), November 2. /TASS/. The Kalashnikov Group has for the first time demonstrated the combat capabilities of the Kalitka-KA anti-drone self-guiding turret at a testing range, a TASS correspondent reports.

As part of the group’s events marking International Military Journalist Day, Kalashnikov conducted live demonstrations of the Kalitka-KA automated system engaging targets simulating unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs). The system shot down an FPV drone and a fixed-wing drone at a range of less than 150 meters. It took several short bursts to engage the targets.

Journalists were also shown demonstrations of drones being engaged using 7.62mm Kalashnikov machine guns mounted on a tactical mount developed by the company, as well as a 2023-model Kalashnikov AK-12 assault rifle firing 5.45mm multi-bullet cartridges.

In addition, the company specialists demonstrated the operating principle of the Zveroboy air defense system with Kraken high-speed interceptors.

The Kalitka robotic system is designed to protect strategic facilities from drone attacks at low and extremely low altitudes. It is capable of engaging both jet-powered and FPV UAVs. The system consists of a metal swivel mount for a 7.62mm Kalashnikov PKT machine gun, an optoelectronic unit (which includes two daytime cameras, a rangefinder, and, optionally, a thermal imager), an electronic turret control unit, and a remote control. Two versions of the automated system have been developed: a stationary version and a mobile version based on a pickup truck.
