TEHRAN, August 24. /TASS/. Any country that participates in Iran’s naval blockade or supports other illegal US actions will face consequences, Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Esmail Baghaei has declared.
"The naval blockade of Iran is an act of aggression," Baghaei emphasized. "We warn that any backing of the US's unlawful measures will incur serious repercussions, as the Islamic Republic of Iran will never tolerate such provocations," he added, according to the Tasnim News Agency.
The United States resumed its naval blockade of Iran on July 14. On August 23, US Central Command announced that the US military had repositioned a total of 70 vessels during this period.
The following day, US Secretary of the Treasury Scott Bessent took to his X social media platform to state that the United States plans to launch a "financial offensive" against Iran. This announcement comes amid ongoing rhetoric; prior to this, President Donald Trump declared the initiation of an economic war and unprecedented isolation against Iran. Trump also warned that countries whose financial institutions, businesses, airports, or government agencies support Tehran would face severe economic repercussions.
