MINSK, February 8. /TASS/. Belarusian border guards detained four people carrying drones for violating the border regime, the Belarusian State Border Committee (SBC) reported on its Telegram channel.
According to the agency, all incidents took place on February 5 at the Belarusian-Lithuanian border. The Lida border guard detachment detained a Belarusian national in the town of Traby, in the Iwye district. According to the border committee, an inspection of his home revealed two drones, four remote controls, 25 batteries, charging stations, components for UAVs, and a tablet.
A few hours later, the second case took place near the farm of Altaria. A local resident was also found in possession of a drone, its spare parts, and a night vision device.
The Border Committee noted that two more Belarusians unsuccessfully tried to hide from the military in the village of Sventoyansk in the Grodno Region. A multirotor drone, a control panel, and batteries, as well as a radio and a thermal imager, were found at the scene. The perpetrators were placed in the temporary detention center of the Grodno border guard group.
Administrative proceedings have been initiated against all the detainees for violating the border regime, the agency said. Two of them will also be prosecuted for disobedience to the lawful demands of border guards. After all the circumstances are established, the men's actions will receive a legal assessment.
