MOSCOW, November 27. /TASS/. Qatar acted as a mediator in handing over to Russia two children evacuated from the combat zone of the Ukrainian conflict.
The two boys were reunited with their families at the Embassy of Qatar in Moscow, with the participation of Ahmed bin Nasser bin Jassim Al Thani, Qatar’s ambassador to Russia, and Russian presidential children’s rights ombudswoman Maria Lvova-Belova, a TASS on-site correspondent reported.
"I am very happy to host the two children and their families at the embassy today. Qatar has always given great attention to humanitarian work and the protection of human and children’s rights," the envoy said. "We continue our work, relying on our strong relations with Russia and Ukraine," he added. According to the ambassador, Qatari diplomats were instructed by the country’s leadership to continue working on reuniting children with their families.
"I would like to express my profound gratitude to the Russian side and President Vladimir Putin for the attention he has given to this matter and for his readiness to cooperate with us on this important issue," the diplomat noted. "We thank Maria Lvova-Belova for her unrelenting efforts on this matter. We hope that every child will be able to return home, both in Russia and Ukraine," he concluded.
