Orenburg Region governor reveals number of people evacuated due to floods

Denis Pasler added that three special medical temporary shelters have been set up

MOSCOW, April 11. /TASS/. More than 1,400 people are in temporary shelters in Russia’s Orenburg Region, a total of 7,800 people have been evacuated due to floods, Governor Denis Pasler told Russian President Vladimir Putin at a meeting on the elimination of the consequences of floods.

"A total of 7,800 people have been evacuated in the region, including 2,117 children. Of these, 1,400 people, including 256 children, are in temporary shelters," Pasler said.

He added that three special medical temporary shelters have been set up.

The partial collapse of a dam in Orsk, second largest city of Russia’s Orenburg Region, occurred on the night of April 6. By the morning of April 11, almost 12,000 residential buildings and about 15,000 residential areas were flooded.
