MOSCOW, October 29. /TASS/. The UN needs to be reformed, but not completely destroyed, Russian President Vladimir Putin said at a press conference after the Russia-Africa summit.
"Of course, almost all major international structures, including the United Nations, are subject to reform due to the drastic changes in the world," he announced the Russian position. "The only question is that these decisions should be made on the basis of, as we say, broad consensus and that we should not throw the baby out with the bathwater. Not to destroy universal international instruments, such as the United Nations, which are perhaps rightly criticized today, but are singularly unique.
"Humanity does not have a similar organization. Yes, maybe it doesn't work the way we would like it to work, but it still exists, it works, it is a platform where positions are coordinated."
