MOSCOW, March 3. /TASS/. Russia keeps pressing for the goals of the special military operation in Ukraine and continues it alongside the steps to establish a dialogue with the United States, Presidential Spokesman Dmitry Peskov told a news briefing in response to a TASS question.
"The situation is not simple in terms of the Ukrainian settlement. Russia continues its dialogue with Washington for the sake of normalizing bilateral relations, in terms of providing the necessary conditions for the normal functioning of our diplomatic missions, without which it is very difficult to discuss other issues," Peskov pointed out. "At the same time, Russia continues the special military operation in order to achieve all goals that were set from the very beginning."
The new U.S. administration has embarked on a path to restore relations with Russia and resolve the Ukrainian conflict as quickly as possible, contrasting with the approach taken by former President Joe Biden's administration and the leadership of European nations. On February 18 in Riyadh and February 27 in Istanbul, representatives from Moscow and Washington engaged in talks aimed at normalizing the operations of their respective embassies and resuming diplomatic contacts overall.
