Western plot to strategically defeat Russia failed — Shoigu

It is noted that the countries where color revolutions, supported by the West, took place had experienced "decreased living standards, weakened economic potential, the uncontrolled drain of capital and resources, and, in the worst-case scenario, the country becoming an instrument for implementing the interests of Western elites"

MOSCOW, November 7. /TASS/. The collective West has been turning Ukraine into a tool to strategically defeat Russia, using color revolutions, but the plot has failed, Russian Security Council Secretary Sergey Shoigu said.

"Instead of letting [Ukraine] peacefully develop over decades, it was not only shamelessly robbed but also collectively turned into a weapon for strategically defeating Russia. Their plot has failed," he said at a meeting of CIS security council secretaries in Moscow.

Shoigu noted that the countries where color revolutions, supported by the West, took place had experienced "decreased living standards, weakened economic potential, the uncontrolled drain of capital and resources, and, in the worst-case scenario, the country becoming an instrument for implementing the interests of Western elites."

"Unfortunately, this is precisely what happened with Ukraine. In 1992, over 50 million people resided there. The economic potential was comparable to that of France and Italy," Shoigu added.
