KAZAN, October 15. /TASS/. Russia and India are considering the possibility of creating joint ports for transshipment of Russian export cargoes and developing multimodal routes for delivering Indian goods to Russia, honorary representative of the Russian Chamber of Commerce and Industry in India Vladislav Dmitriev told TASS in an interview.
"Among the most promising areas where, as we believe, we [Russia and India] need to make additional efforts - these are, first and foremost, the shipbuilding industry, joint projects in shipbuilding, and implementation of joint infrastructural projects, specifically the organization of joint ports for transshipment of Russian export cargoes," he said on the sidelines of the 2nd Russia-India Business Forum Time.
To transport Indian goods to Russia, it is also proposed to develop new multimodal solutions, including the opening of modern terminals primarily in the largest aviation hubs of Russia, Dmitriev said.
The expert stressed importance of interregional cooperation for the development of trade and economic ties between the two countries. "I would like to note that both Russia and India are federal states, and a very, very high share of our mutual relations is, of course, cooperation between regions. Tatarstan is one of the pioneers and leaders in these relations," he said. The potential for interregional cooperation is only in its initial stage, Dmitriev noted.
The 2nd Russia-India Business Forum Time is taking place on October 14-17 in Kazan, the capital of Tatarstan. TASS is the general information partner of the forum.
