MOSCOW, February 5. /TASS/. Coal production in Russia at the end of 2024 decreased by 0.6% and amounted to 427 mln tons, according to the Russian State Statistics Service (Rosstat) data.
In particular, the production of hard coal of all types decreased in a year-on-year comparison by 2.7%, to 328 mln tons, anthracite production decreased by 13.6%, to 21.8 mln tons, and coking coal production increased by 3.7% to 110 mln tons.
Production of other hard coal production decreased by 4.7% and amounted to 197 mln tons, while brown coal production for the reporting period reached 98.6 mln tons, which is 7.2% higher than a year earlier.
Earlier, Russian Deputy Prime Minister Alexander Novak said in his article for the Energy Policy magazine that coal production in Russia in 2024 would amount to about 443.5 mln tons, and exports would amount to 196.2 mln tons.
