Trump did not discuss strikes on Iran with CENTCOM head on Thursday — Axios

According to the report, blockade and economic pressure were discussed at length

WASHINGTON, October 30. /TASS/. US President Donald Trump did not discuss striking Iran in his Thursday meeting with head of the US Central Command (CENTCOM) Admiral Bradley Cooper and several representatives of his administration, correspondent of the Axios portal and the 12th channel of Israeli television Barak Ravid said on X, quoting sources.

"As far as I know from multiple US officials the focus of the meeting yesterday wasn't strikes. More than 20 people attended. Blockade and economic pressure were discussed at length. It doesn't mean strikes couldn't happen immediately after the midterms," he wrote.

Earlier, The Wall Street Journal said that Cooper on Thursday presented Trump with options for possible strikes on Iran. It said that Secretary of War Pete Hegseth and Joint Chiefs chair General Dan Caine also attended the meeting at the White House. According to Axios, US Vice President JD Vance, US Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent, Energy Secretary Chris Wright and special envoy of the American leader Steve Witkoff were also there.

According to the newspaper, Cooper rarely briefs Trump in person, so the meeting could indicate that the United States is increasingly considering the start of large-scale hostilities. The newspaper, citing sources, reported that Washington had warned several Gulf countries of a possible "short intensive military campaign" against Iran after the midterm congressional elections. At the same time, the publication reported that Vance, with Trump’s approval sent a letter to Secretary of the Supreme National Security Council of Iran Mohsen Rezaei with a proposal of a meeting between representatives of the United States and Iran, adding he could lead the US negotiating team. Tasnim news agency said that Iran had received the letter, but had not yet responded to it.
