TEHRAN, October 30. /TASS/. Incidents occurred involving two tankers that attempted to navigate via an unauthorized route and were subsequently brought to a halt in the southern waters of the Strait of Hormuz, the public relations office of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) Navy has said.
A statement, cited by Iran’s state broadcasting organization, specifies that at the time of the incidents, the vessels were located in the western and eastern sections of the strait.
According to the IRGC Navy, the vessels had turned off all navigation and positioning systems and, with the support of the US military, attempted to exit the strait via a prohibited route. After several radio warnings went unheeded, the tankers entered a dangerous zone. The IRGC Navy stated that the events were a result of US actions and a disregard for Iranian regulations governing passage through the strait.
