Europe moderately upbeat ahead of trilateral talks on Ukraine — Polish PM

The Polish head of government noted that his Norwegian counterpart told him about the upcoming call with the Russian president in advance

MOSCOW, October 27. /TASS/. Tuesday’s phone conversation with Russian President Vladimir Putin left Norwegian Prime Minister Jonas Gahr Store and Finnish leader Alexander Stubb feeling cautiously optimistic about the early November trilateral talks on Ukraine scheduled to be held in Abu Dhabi, according to Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk.

"President Stubb gave me a detailed account of his conversation with President Putin and confirmed that the two sides stood their positions during the conversation," Tusk said in an address ahead of a cabinet meeting that was broadcast on the social media account of the Polish government’s office. The Polish head of government also noted that his Norwegian counterpart told him about the upcoming call with Putin in advance.

Earlier on Tuesday, Store and Stubb held a phone call with Putin. The three leaders agreed to continue to maintain direct contacts over the phone, the Kremlin recounted.
