BRICS parliaments call for adoption of international terrorism convention

The document stresses that terrorism should not be associated with any religion, nationality, civilization or ethnic group

NEW DELHI, October 27. /TASS/. BRICS parliamentarians are calling for the prompt conclusion of work on the Comprehensive Convention on International Terrorism and its adoption under UN auspices in a joint statement released following the 12th BRICS Parliamentary Forum.

"We look forward to further strengthening cooperation in combating terrorism. We call for the prompt conclusion of work on the Comprehensive Convention on International Terrorism and its adoption under the auspices of the United Nations. We call for coordinated measures targeting all individuals and organizations designated as terrorist entities in accordance with UN decisions," the document says.

The parliamentarians strongly condemn all acts of terrorism, regardless of where, when, or by whom perpetrators commit them. They stress that terrorism must not be associated with any religion, nationality, civilization, or ethnic group and that all those who engage in or support terrorist activities must face accountability.

"We strongly condemn the terrorist attack in Jammu and Kashmir on April 22, 2025, which claimed 26 lives and injured many others. We reiterate our commitment to combating terrorism in all its forms and manifestations, including the cross-border movement of terrorist operatives, terrorist financing, and the provision of safe havens for them," the document says.
