Number of COVID-2019 cases across globe up by over 500,000 in past day — WHO

2,196,944 coronavirus-associated deaths were registered across the globe

GENEVA, January 30. /TASS/. More than 500,000 confirmed cases of the novel coronavirus infection were registered worldwide in the past day, with the overall number of such cases exceeding 101.56 million, the World Health Organization (WHO) said in its daily bulletin on Saturday.

As of 21:49 Moscow time on January 30, as many as 101,561,219 novel coronavirus cases and 2,196,944 coronavirus-associated deaths were registered across the globe. The number of confirmed cases grew by 500,985 in the past 24 hours and the number of fatalities increased by 13,915.

The WHO statistics is based on officially confirmed data, submitted by national governments.

North and South America account for more than a half of the COVID-19 daily tally (287,160 cases). Next are Europe (133,022 cases), and Southeast Asia (29,768 cases).

The biggest number of coronavirus cases was reported from the United States (25,512,197), India (10,733,131), Brazil (9,058,687), Russia (3,832,080), the United Kingdom (3,743,738), France (3,102,215), Spain (2,705,001), Italy (2,529,070), Turkey (2,464,030), Germany (2,205,171), Colombia (2,067,575), and Argentina (1,905,524).
