Russian short track speed skater wins bronze at World Cup in Sofia

Sofia Prosvirnova showed the result of 2:29.843

TASS, March 10. Russian short-track speed skater Sofia Prosvirnova won bronze at 1,500 m distance during the 2019 World Short Track Speed Skating Championships staged in Sofia, Bulgaria.

The athlete showed the result of 2:29.843. Choi Min-jeong from South Korea won gold with 2:29.741. Kim Boutin from Canada grabbed silver with 2:29.803.

The bronze medal won by the Russian speed skater is a major success because the athlete had less time for preparation as compared to rivals, coach of the national team Tatiana Borodulina told TASS in a comment.

"The bronze medal of Prosvirnova is a smash hit, considering that she ran in Krasnoyarsk two days ago, while all the other ones have already been here and preparing," the coach said. The bronze medal came as a nice surprise, Borodulina added.

The Championships in Sofia will end on March 10.
