MOSCOW, February 27. /TASS/. Russian President Vladimir Putin has signed a decree stipulating that the first military service contract with foreigners will be signed for one year. The decree was uploaded to the official Internet portal of legal information on Monday.
As follows from the decree, the first military service contract with foreigners being enlisted as privates and sergeants will be concluded for a period of twelve months. Previously, Russian legislation provided for the conclusion of relevant contracts for five years.
Last autumn, Putin signed a decree letting those foreigners who have concluded a contract with the Russian Armed Forces obtain Russian citizenship under a simplified procedure - without presenting a residence permit or complying with the mandatory five-year residence qualification requirement.
