Russian Seasons to be cancelled due to sanctions, subsidies diverted to Donbass groups

This year the Russian Seasons international cultural project was to present programs online and offline in Denmark, Sweden and Norway

MOSCOW, June 9. /TASS/. The Russian Seasons international culture project may be cancelled in 2022 due to the unfriendly policy of the US and western states on Russia, with the released subsidies to be diverted to increasing the number of tours in Russia, particularly for groups from the DPR and LPR (the Donetsk and Lugansk People's Republics), according to the list of proposals of federal treasurers on reallocation of budgetary provisions for 2022 and the planned period of 2023 and 2024 (obtained by TASS).

"A decrease in budgetary provisions in 2022 by 150 mln rubles ($2.5 mln) due to cancellation of the events of the Russian Seasons international project, particularly because of restrictions related to unfriendly actions of the US and foreign states and international organizations that have joined it, which have imposed restrictions against Russian citizens and Russian legal entities, the Russian Finance Ministry explained," the document said.

According to the list of proposals, it is planned to allocate 67.7 mln rubles ($1.1 mln) out of this amount for increasing the number of events on the nationwide tour and concert plan, particularly considering the fact that tours of groups from the DPR and LPR will be included, while the remaining 82.3 mln rubles ($1.3 mln) will be spent on holding additional culturally educational and patriotic events "due to the current geopolitical situation."
