Russian cosmonaut celebrates birthday on ISS

Cosmonaut Denis Matveev turned 39 on Monday

ISS, April 26. /TASS/. Members of the International Space Station (ISS) crew congratulated Russia's space corporation Roscosmos cosmonaut Denis Matveev on his birthday and gave him a watch, a personalized chocolate bar and a homemade cake as gifts, TASS special correspondent cosmonaut Oleg Artemyev reported.

According to him, all the members of the crew gathered the day before in Russia's Zvezda service module to celebrate the 39th birthday of the Russian cosmonaut. One of the presents was a homemade cake made of cookies, jam, candy and marmalade.

Cosmonaut Matveev turned 39 on Monday. He celebrated his birthday aboard the International Space Station. The Russian cosmonaut arrived at the station on March 18, along with Artemyev and their colleague Sergey Korsakov. Also, now on board the ISS are US astronauts Raja Chari, Thomas Marshburn, Kayla Barron, and Matthias Maurer, a German astronaut from the European Space Agency.

On November 17, 2021, Russia’s world-renowned TASS news agency and the State Space Corporation Roscosmos signed a memorandum of cooperation, under which a TASS news office was established aboard the ISS. Presently, cosmonaut Oleg Artemyev is heading the outer space-based branch. Cosmonaut Alexander Misurkin was the first TASS special reporter in space. His flight lasted 12 days.
