MOSCOW, February 5. /TASS/. Sales of cars in Russia reached 90,500 units in January 2025, which is 9% higher than in the same period in 2024, the Automobile Manufacturers’ Committee of the Association of European Businesses (AEB) said in a statement.
"According to the data provided by JSC PPC (Passport industrial consulting - TASS) the market volume in January 2025 was 90,462 units, exceeding sales in January last year by 9%," the statement reads.
Total sales of new passenger cars and light commercial vehicles in January 2025 amounted to 90,813 units including alternative supply channels, according to the AEB Automobile Manufacturers’ Committee.
"Due to the long holiday period, January is traditionally the most difficult month for sales. <…> Obviously dealers still have a certain stock of cars to support sales and the customer demand in anticipation of likely negative changes due to the continuing increase in the financial burden," Chairman of the Automobile Manufacturers Committee, Alexey Kalitsev was quoted as saying.
