European Commission proposes 45 billion euros in funding for Ukraine for 2027

Of this amount, 31.7 billion euros would go toward weapons purchases

BRUSSELS, October 30. /TASS/. The European Commission has approved a proposal to provide Ukraine with 45 billion euros in funding for 2027, the commission said in a statement.

"Today, the European Commission took another step in the implementation of the 90-billion-euro Ukraine Support Loan <...>. The package adopted today includes a proposal for the Council to approve the remaining loan amount of 45 billion for 2027," the statement reads.

The European Commission said that up to 13.3 billion euros would be allocated for budget support, while 31.7 billion euros would go toward weapons purchases.

Although the European Commission refers to the funds as a "loan," Kiev will effectively receive the money free of charge. The funds will be raised through borrowing, with the interest payments covered by the EU budget.
