Iran war costs US $43.6 billion — portal

According to the report, $11.2 billion was spent on operations, $28.1 billion on replenishing ammunition, and $4.3 billion on replacing lost equipment

WASHINGTON, September 18. /TASS/. The conflict with Iran cost American taxpayers $43.6 billion as of September 3, according to a report from the Central Command (CENTCOM), whose area of operational responsibility primarily includes the Middle East and North Africa.

According to Punchbowl News, which reviewed the report, $11.2 billion was spent on operations, $28.1 billion on replenishing ammunition, and $4.3 billion on replacing lost equipment.

Earlier, the Congressional Budget Office said that the conflict with Iran would cost Americans $2-3 billion per month, while $38 billion had already been spent in the first five months of the war.

The United States and Israel launched the war against Iran on February 28. In June, Washington and Tehran signed a memorandum of understanding providing for an immediate cessation of hostilities on all fronts, including in Lebanon. However, on the night of July 8, the United States resumed large-scale strikes against Iran, accusing it of violating the agreements on the Strait of Hormuz, through which about 25% of the world’s oil trade and about 20% of liquefied natural gas trade pass. Later the US effectively signaled that it would stop using large-scale military force against Iran and shift to an attempt to economically smother it with sanctions.
