SHANGHAI, March 31. /TASS/. The Treaty of Good-Neighborliness and Friendly Cooperation Between China and Russia guarantees the stability of relations between Beijing and Moscow amid the restoration of Russia-US dialogue, Wang Xianjui, a senior researcher at the China Foundation for International and Strategic Studies, told TASS.
"Look at our Treaty of Good-Neighborliness and Friendly Cooperation Between China and Russia. This is the legal foundation that ensured the development of relations between our countries," Wang Xianjui said, commenting on the possibility of changes in relations between Moscow, Beijing, and Washington under US President Donald Trump.
"We have completely solved the border issue. Previously, it could have been an obstacle and a challenge, and sometimes there really were some negative moments, but we have completely solved the border issue," Wang said on the sidelines of the ongoing conference of the Valdai International Discussion Club and the Center for Russian Studies at East China Normal University in Shanghai.
The current level of China-Russia relations "is the most significant achievement for Chinese diplomacy in the past few decades," the expert noted.
In 2001, Russian President Vladimir Putin and former Chinese leader Jiang Zemin signed the Treaty of Good-Neighborliness and Friendly Cooperation Between China and Russia.
The conference of the Valdai International Discussion Club and the Center for Russian Studies at East China Normal University is running in Shanghai from March 31 to April 1.
