MOSCOW, February 21. /TASS/. As many as 294 people suffered injuries in the two earthquakes that hit Turkey’s Hatay province on Monday, the country’s Health Minister Fahrettin Koca said.
"The number of injured in the two earthquakes in Hatay stands at 294," he wrote on Twitter. "Unfortunately, 18 of them are in serious condition," Koca added.
Meanwhile, Turkey’s Disaster and Emergency Management Presidency (AFAD) confirmed on Tuesday that six people had lost their lives in the quakes. "The two earthquakes in Hatay were followed by 90 aftershocks. Six people were killed and 294 suffered injuries," the agency said.
According to the AFAD, earthquakes of magnitude 6.4 and 5.8 hit the Hatay province on Monday night. Building collapses were reported in several cities. The tremors were also felt in Greece, Egypt, Israel, Lebanon, Syria and Cyprus.
