Vaccination with Russia’s Sputnik V vaccine begins in Lugansk People’s Republic

According to head of the republic, Leonid Pasechnik, further supplies of the Russian vaccine are expected to be made regularly

LUGANSK, February 1. /TASS/. A vaccination campaign against the novel coronavirus infection has kicked off in the self-proclaimed Lugansk People’s Republic (LPR). Russia’s Sputnik V vaccine is being used, LPR’s Health Minister Natalia Pashchenko said on Monday.

"Vaccination will be voluntary and free of charge. It already started today, on Monday. I want to once again thank Russia for its invaluable help," Lugansk Media Center quoted her as saying.

According to the minister, the first to get inoculated were medics of the ambulance service and emergencies ministry employees.

The first batch of the Russian coronavirus vaccine arrived in the LPR this weekend. According to head of the republic, Leonid Pasechnik, further supplies of the Russian vaccine are expected to be made regularly.

As of February 1, the republic reported 2,624 coronavirus cases.
