Situation around Bushehr NPP approaching critical line — Russian MFA

Zakharova also said the US and Israel have "completely erased their former reputation in the field of nuclear non-proliferation, as well as nuclear and physical nuclear security, demonstrating that they themselves recognize no norms or restrictions."

MOSCOW, April 4. /TASS/. Moscow is making every effort to draw international attention to the fact that the situation around the Bushehr nuclear power plant is getting closer to a dangerous threshold, Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova said.

"The worst can still be avoided. However, for this to happen, strikes on nuclear facilities in Iran, including the Bushehr nuclear power plant, must be stopped immediately," she stressed.

Zakharova also said the US and Israel have "completely erased their former reputation in the field of nuclear non-proliferation, as well as nuclear and physical nuclear security, demonstrating that they themselves recognize no norms or restrictions."

She noted that IAEA Director General Rafael Grossi expressed deep concern, stressing that nuclear power plants and surrounding areas where vital nuclear safety systems are located must never become targets of military strikes, as he addressed "aggressors who continue, without hesitation and even with a certain unhealthy zeal, to strike Iran’s nuclear energy infrastructure directly, despite the fact that it falls under the Treaty on the Non-Proliferation of Nuclear Weapons and Iran’s Comprehensive Safeguards Agreement with the IAEA.".
