Russia studies West's reconciliation offers that align with its interests — top diplomat

"We bear in mind that after the end of the Cold War, the West agreed on some right things, extolled these right things in theory, however, in practice, blatantly violated all agreements and did everything to undermine the legitimate interests of Russia, and any other competitor in general," the minister said

VALLETTA /Republic of Malta/, December 5. /TASS/. Russia will consider the West's proposals on normalizing relations if they are based on respect for Russian interests, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov said at a press conference.

"The president [of Russia] earlier stated that we would never return to the situation before 2022. We bear in mind that after the end of the Cold War, the West agreed on some right things, extolled these right things in theory, however, in practice, blatantly violated all agreements and did everything to undermine the legitimate interests of Russia, and any other competitor in general," the minister said.

"Therefore, we have drawn conclusions," Lavrov said. "We will never close the door on relations with anyone, but we will assess the proposals of all those who have declared war against Russia through the Kiev regime, who have imposed numerous sanctions against us, and who accuse Russia of all mortal sins. "When they come to their senses - if they come to their senses and propose something concrete with respect for each other's interests, we will take a closer look and draw conclusions based on the contents of these possible proposals," the Russian foreign minister said.
