Putin highlights strengthening trade ties between Russia and DRC

The Russian leader also noted the development of humanitarian ties between the two countries

MOSCOW, October 30. /TASS/. Trade ties between Russia and the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC) are strengthening as bilateral turnover grows, Russian President Vladimir Putin said during a meeting with DRC President Felix Tshisekedi.

"The Democratic Republic of the Congo is one of Russia’s promising and reliable partners on the continent. Russian-Congolese trade relations are strengthening, and trade turnover is on the rise," the Russian president said.

"We believe that the established intergovernmental commission on trade, economic, scientific, and technical cooperation will help elevate our interaction to a new, higher level," Putin added.

Furthermore, the Russian leader noted the development of humanitarian ties between the two countries, pointing out that the scholarship quota for DRC students to study at Russian universities stands at 100.

"Overall, we strive to strengthen friendly relations with African states, including the Democratic Republic of the Congo," he concluded.
