Bank of Russia approves list of thirteen systemic banks

It is noted that the largest domestic credit institutions, whose stability influences the entire national banking system, are systemic ones

MOSCOW, October 3. /TASS/. The Bank of Russia approved the list of banks viewed as systemic ones, composed of thirteen credit institutions that had this status earlier, the regulator said on Monday.

The Central Bank "approved the list of systemic credit institutions. Their share accounts for about 77% of total assets of the Russian banking sector," the Bank of Russia said.

Systemic bank status is maintained by Sberbank, Alfa-Bank, Gazprombank, Unicredit, Sovcombank, VTB, Credit Bank of Moscow, Otkritie, Rosbank, Tinkoff Bank, Promsvyazbank, Raiffeisenbank and the Russian Agricultural Bank.

The largest domestic credit institutions, whose stability influences the entire national banking system, are systemic ones. The size of the credit institution and the amount of raised funds, including retail deposits, are taken into account when categorizing banks as systemic ones.

Criteria for recognition of banks as systemic were defined in January 2014. It was planned initially to assign such status to fifty credit institutions but their list was later reduced.
