Angara-1.2 rocket launched from Plesetsk spaceport in Russian Defense Ministry’s interests

It is the second launch of a light version of the Angara rocket family

MOSCOW, April 29. /TASS/. An Angara-1.2 light carrier rocket carrying a space module for the Russian Defense Ministry has been launched for the first time from the Plesetsk space center in the Archangelsk Region, the ministry told reporters on Friday.

"On April 29 at 22:56 Moscow time, a combat crew of the Space Force of the Aerospace Forces successfully launched an Angara-1.2 light launch vehicle with a spacecraft in the interests of the Russian Defense Ministry from the launch pad <...> of the State Test Cosmodrome Plesetsk," the ministry said.

It is the second launch of a light version of the Angara rocket family. The first launch of this light carrier rocket took place also from the Plesetsk spaceport on July 9, 2014. The rocket has two stages and is capable of carrying a payload of up to three tonnes into low-Earth orbit. On Friday, Angara-1.2 rocket was launched for the first time with a satellite.
